Grande chosen NAHL South Division Star Of The Week

The Amarillo Bulls received some great news on Monday as goaltender Jason Grande was chosen as the North American Hockey League’s South Division Player Of The Week.

The Bauer Hockey Divisional Stars of the Week is a weekly feature during the 2017-18 regular season that honors the top performing players in each of the four NAHL divisions. Only players that are nominated by their respective teams are considered for the Divisional Players of the Week award.

Amarillo Bulls goalie Jason Grande helped his club to a weekend road split with the Corpus Christi IceRays as the Bulls try and chase down a playoff spot in the South Division. The 19-year-old native of West Chester, Pennsylvania, only gave up two goals on the weekend, stopping 54 of 56 shots.

On Friday, Grande (6’2/185) stopped all 24 shots that came his way for his fifth shutout of the season as the Bulls blanked the IceRays, 4-0. On Saturday, he made 30 saves in a 4-2 loss. For the season, Grande has a 15-16-5 record with a 2.78 goals against average and a 91.2% save percentage. “Jason has been our most consistent player for the entire season. His poise in the net gives us an opportunity to win every night. I have no doubt that he will be a tremendous player at the NCAA level and beyond,” said Bulls head coach Rocky Russo.

It’s back on the road this weekend for the Amarillo Bulls as they visit the Topeka RoadRunners at Kansas Expo Center Landon Arena. Both games facing off at 7:05 pm. Tune into the action live on CBS Sports Radio 1440, and online at beginning with pregame coverage 20 minutes before the puck is dropped.
