Future Bulls Win National Title

SAN JOSE, CA – Two future Amarillo Bulls captured a National Title on Monday afternoon in San Jose, California.

Forwards Luke Edgerton and Eric Cooley powered the Pens Elite U18 program to a USA Hockey National Championship following a 3-0 victory over Culver Academy.

Cooley was involved in all three goals in the championship final, potting a goal and setting up two more. Edgerton helped Pens Elite in their semi-final win over North Jersey Avalanche by scoring the equalizer and then setting up the winner in overtime.

The two were part of six Bulls tenders that attended the National Tournament. Steven Ipri and Brendan Walkom played for the CCYH Selects that lost in the quarterfinals to the North Jersey Avalanche 2-1. The Selects were unbeaten in round robin with a 3-0 mark led by Ipri who picked up assists in round robin victories over Buffalo Jr. Sabres and the Tampa Scorpions.

Twin brothers Justin and Brendan Michaelian led Victory Honda to a pair of overtime wins in round robin play. Justin Michaelian had an assist in Victory Honda’s 5-4 overtime win over the Dallas Stars.

The Amarillo Bulls conclude their 2016-17 season this weekend against the Odessa Jackalopes at Ector County Coliseum.
