The Amarillo Bulls got some great news today (Thursday) when it was announced that Alumni Gage Christianson was chosen as the NCHA Men’s Offensive Player of The Week.
Christianson posted six points in a series split with Concordia University, but his efforts nearly led to a sweep of the Falcons, which would have bumped the Raiders into the No. 6 seed for the upcoming Harris Cup Playoffs. MSOE won 5-1 in the Friday contest but fell 6-5 after giving up a late goal on Saturday.
In a pressure-filled game Friday due to the playoff situation, Christianson assisted on a first-period goal that made the score 2-0. He also assisted on a power play tally midway through the second period that put the Raiders up 3-0 on the way to a 5-1 win. In the Saturday rematch – with MSOE just a win away from leaping over CUW in the standings – Christianson came up with his best performance as a collegian, bringing the Raiders back from 3-0 and 5-2 deficits and eventually getting the game to a 5-5 tie in the third. He notched a goal and an assist in the second period, then scored two more times in the third to complete his hat trick and tie the game with just over seven minutes to play. The Falcons would score the game’s 11th goal for the 6-5 victory.
