Bulls Win Streak Ends With Loss In Odessa

post-game-recapODESSA, TX – The Amarillo Bulls five-game winning streak came to an end on Saturday night at Ector County Coliseum.

The hometown Odessa Jackalopes connected for six unanswered goals to rally from a 2-0 deficit and beat the Bulls 6-2. It was the third straight game in Odessa where the Bulls 2-0 advantage evaporated and the Jackalopes were able to rally with consecutive goals.

Nestor Plarsmo and Charlie Singerhouse tallied for the Bulls, while Nikita Babintsev took the loss in the goal. Despite the defeat, Babintsev will finish with a record of over .500. His 43 appearance of the season ranked him fourth all time in a single season in Amarillo Bulls history.

It was a fast skating opening 20 minutes between Amarillo and Odessa. Both teams had stretches of offensive zone time that kept the goaltenders busy. The Bulls opened up the scoring when Nestor Plarsmo scored off a face-off win from Charlie Singerhouse at 13:39. Odessa outshot Amarillo 13-10 in the first period.

Charlie Singerhouse gave the Bulls an early 2-0 lead to start the 2nd period when he was left uncovered in front of the net and put home a second rebound attempt. After that the Jackalopes began their comeback charge that was started with a controversial goal as it appeared that Chase Thudium kicked the puck in across the goal line. Upon further review, the officials stated there was no kicking motion and the goal was called good. Ryan McKeller tied the game for Odessa just past the midway mark when his shot snuck through Nikita Babintsev. The Jackalopes took the lead for good with just under five minutes remaining in the stanza as Thudium got his second of the period scoring off a face-off win. The Jackalopes outshot the Bulls 20-12 in the second period.

The third period dint’ start well for the Bulls as the Jackalopes added to their lead with a pair of goals less than three minutes apart. Zach Zech and then Peyton Frantti put the game out of reach with goals that chased starter Nikita Babintsev who was replaced by Brandon Bussi. Odessa rounded out the scoring with a final goal near the half way mark of the period.

The Odessa Jackalopes outshot the Amarillo Bulls 49-30 including 26-4 in the third period.
