AMARILLO, TX – The Amarillo Bulls continue to build more strength to their offense of their line-up for next season. Forward Michael McInerney becomes the fifth player tendered by the Bulls for the 2017-18 season who hopes he can bring more jump to the program.
McInerney, a 5-10, 174-pound forward from Birmingham, Michigan, spent the past two seasons with Brother Rice High School. In 54 games for the prestigious school, McInerney had 21 goals and 48 assists for 70 points.
“Michigan high school hockey this year was very competitive and it helped me be the player I am today,” said McInerney, who is joins several other Bulls Alumni who have attended the school. “The team we have was very good at Brother Rice and playing for them will make it easier to adapt to the NAHL style of play. It’s great to know that a couple of guys from Brother Rice have come to play for Amarillo.”
McInerney made his way down to the Texas Panhandle to work out with the team during the final home stand of the 2016-17 regular season for the Bulls. He said the opportunity and experience was amazing.
“It was very fast pace and a good group of guys to be with,” he said. “It was a great experience and like nothing I have ever done before. It was awesome to be here.”
McInerney said he chose Amarillo because of the coaching staff and the strength of the South Division.
“Coach Matt (Nicholson) had good things to say about the team and I thought it was the best fit for me,” he commented. “The North American Hockey League has always been strong as has the South Division.”
McInerney said he can bring physicality and speed to the Bulls line-up.
“I’m a very physical player so the NAHL is like that so it fits into my style especially the South Division,” he said.
Michael McInerney joins, Brendan Furry, Brendan Datema, Tanner Palocsik and Jakob Hanthorn as players announced as tendered for the Amarillo Bulls for the 2017-18 season.
