AMARILLO, TX – The Amarillo Bulls swept two games over the Corpus Christi IceRays over the weekend 3-1 and 5-2, to pull to within five points of the first place Texas Tornado in the South Division. The Bulls have a record of, 17-5-1, for 35 points and still the best winning percentage, .761, in the North American Hockey League.
UPCOMING GAMES:The seven-game, three-week road trip, concludes for the Amarillo Bulls this weekend when they visit the New Mexico Mustangs at Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Both games face off at 8:30 pm central, 7:30 pm mountain time.
UPCOMING BROADCAST SCHEDULE:Both of this weekend’s games between the Amarillo Bulls and the New Mexico Mustangs can be heard live on the official flagship station, ESPN1440 and online at www.amarillobulls.comfueled by Sportsjuice. The broadcasts begin at 8:15 pm central time with The Bulls Warm Up Show Presented by Wayland Baptist University. Denis J. Puska returns to call the action at 8:30 pm. BULLS IN THE COMMUNITY:The Amarillo Bulls participated in the Center City Electric Light Parade through downtown Amarillo on Friday night. Rampage, staff, players and the Bulls Buggy were visible along the route.

NEXT HOME GAME:It won’t be long before the Bulls return to the ice at The Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. The Bulls host the Texas Tornado on Friday, Dec. 17, at 7 pm. It is a busy night of activities including an appearance by Santa Claus. The Bulls will wear their Christmas jerseys and a live auction will be held immediately after the game with proceeds to benefit Amarillo Youth Hockey. Fans are also encouraged to bring a new or gently used Teddy Bear or Stuffed Animal to the game, and when the Bulls score their first goal, throw the toys onto the ice. The toys will be collected and given to charity.

THE LAST 20 MINUTES:The Amarillo Bulls have outscored their opponents 16-5 in their last eight games dating back to Nov. 13. As part of that stat, the Bulls have not allowed a third-period goal in their last four games (outscoring their opponents 9-0).
THE LAST FIVE GAMES:Forward Cody Freeman has collected seven points in his last five games including five assists. Freeman along with defensemen Karl Beckman and Dan McDougall are a combined plus 19. Zack Smoot leads all goal scorers with three.
THIS AND THAT FILE:After playing eight games in the month of October and finishing with a mark of 6-2, the Amarillo Bulls played a limited schedule of six games and were 4-2. The Bulls are averaging four goals per game which ranks third in the NAHL, but have among the best goals against, 6th, at 2.88 per game.
AMARILLO BULLS 3 – CORPUS CHRISTI ICERAYS 1: Zack Smoot fired what proved to be the game winning goal early in the second period to lift the Bulls past the Icerays 3-1. Matt Johnson scored in the first period to give Amarillo a 1-0 advantage. Mitch Rogge was awarded a penalty shot in the third period when he was brought down on a partial breakaway. Rogge would later convert on that opportunity. Goaltender Nikifor Szczerba won his 15thgame of the season.
AMARILLO BULLS 5 – CORPUS CHRISTI ICE RAYS 2:The Amarillo Bulls scored five consecutive goals after falling behind 2-0, and went on to a 5-2 victory over Corpus Christi on the second night. Cody Freeman, Ricky DeRosa, Zack Smoot, Joe Kozlak and Matt Johnson tallied for the Bulls in the contest. Steve Bolton won his first game in a Bulls uniform, kicking aside 26 of 28 shots he faced. Freeman had two assists, while DeRosa and Matt Johnson each picked up four shots on goal.
