BULLS MAKE MOVES AT
NAHL TRADE DEADLINE
AMARILLO, TX – The Amarillo Bulls made a couple of moves at the North American Hockey League Trade and Roster Deadline yesterday.
The Bulls sent forward Nolan Culver to the New Mexico Mustangs, in exchange for a Tender for this year, and a second round pick next year in the NAHL Entry Draft. In a separate transaction, defenseman Culley McCloud was taken off the team’s 23 man roster. In 15 games for the Bulls, Culver had one goal and two assists for three points and was plus one. McCloud played in 17 games for the Bulls where he added an assist and was minus three.
“Unfortunately, we had to get down to numbers and it is never an easy time for us as they are both great young men,” said Bulls Head Coach Dennis Williams. “We traded Nolan to New Mexico and took Culley off of our 23 man roster, but he will continue to be part of our organization here in Amarillo.”
Williams said that Culver will have a chance to play in different situations in New Mexico that the Bulls were not able to provide him.
“At the end of the day it’s also about players being able to develop and in this case Nolan will have a great opportunity in New Mexico with a great coach in Jason Kerzner,” he added.
A three game road trip for the Amarillo Bulls faces off tonight, with a visit to Wichita Falls to face the Wildcats. It’s the seventh meeting of the season between the two teams that the Bulls have dominated with five wins. Forward Brooks Behling leads the Bulls with nine points in the season series, while Mike Erickson has scored five times. Defenseman Luke Jenkins has four goals and seven points. Goaltender Mike Taffe has notched a record of 4-0-0 and has a goals against average of less than two per game.
The Amarillo Bulls are coming off a tough 4-2 setback to the New Mexico Mustangs on home ice on Saturday night. The Wildcats doubled the visiting Texas Tornado 4-2 on Saturday.
