Bulls Host New Mexico For Two This Weekend

AMARILLO, TX – After a successful start on home ice, the Amarillo Bulls look to continue that awesome play tomorrow (Friday) night at 7 pm, when they host the New Mexico Mustangs for a pair of games at The Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center.

The Bulls tough and physical style of play powered them to back-to-back wins last weekend over the Texas Tornado and then Corpus Christi Ice Rays. The victories vaulted Amarillo into sole possession of second place (5-1-1) just one point back of the first place Wichita Falls Wildcats.

Forward Zack Smoot leads the team in scoring with five goals and three assists for eight points, while Joe Kozlak has seven points. Cody Freeman is second on the team in goals scored with four, while defenseman Derek Hills is tops among assists with five. Goaltender Nikifor Szczerba has played in six of the team’s first seven games and has posted a 5-0-1 mark, with a sparkling goals against average of 1.66.

The New Mexico Mustangs head into the contest with an even record of 3-3-0 for six points. Jimmy Peplinski is their force offensively with seven points, while two other players share the goal scoring lead with four each.

On Saturday night, when the two teams collide in their second game, the first 500 fans will receive cowbells at the door courtesy of Budweiser. There are also several large groups coming out to the game.
