AMARILLO, TX – The Amarillo Bulls look to pad their lead atop the North American Hockey League’s overall standings tonight when they host the New Mexico Mustangs. The face-off is set for 7 pm at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center.
The Bulls lead the overall standings by three points over the Bismarck Bobcats with four games to play in the regular season. The Bobcats visit the red hot Austin Bruins which have collected points in nine straight games (8-0-1).
It’s Community Options Night and fans are encouraged to help support this great organization. This game marks the Bulls’ second to last regular season home game with one more set for tomorrow night versus the surging Odessa Jackalopes.
On the ice, it’s the 10th regular season meeting between the Bulls and the Mustangs. The two will play a doubleheader next weekend in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. The Mustangs have given the Bulls all they can handle on home ice, including a tough loss the last time they got together.
Four Bulls players have combined for 23 goals in the season series, while Gregg Gruehl has five of the seven wins and a Goals Against Average of less than two per game. Amarillo has won three in a row while the Mustangs have lost five straight.
Don’t forget that tomorrow (Saturday) night (versus Odessa Jackalopes) is Fan Appreciation Night Presented By M & R Industrial and lucky fans will win jerseys of the Bulls’ backs immediately after the game. There will also be an Awards Ceremony immediately after the game in The Corral.
