THE SERIES: These are the final two meetings of the regular season between the Amarillo Bulls and the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees. The Bulls lead the season series 4-2. Three of the four wins by the Bulls in the series have come on the road at State Farm Arena. All of the games have been close and decided by three goals or less. Goaltenders Paul Berrafato and Collin Delia each have two wins over the Killer Bees. Amarillo has outscored RGV 16-13, with five of the markers coming on the power play.
TUESDAY REWIND: It was a rare Tuesday night for the Amarillo Bulls and the Odessa Jackalopes. The two teams combined for one goal and no penalty minutes for nearly 63 minutes. Roman Ammirato’s backhand goal midway through overtime propelled the Bulls past the Jackalopes 1-0. Collin Delia picked up his 5th shutout stopping all 15 shots he faced.
BULLS NOTES: The Bulls are 5-4-1 in their last 10 games and more importantly have won five in a row and points in their last six. Brady Ferguson, Carter Penzien and Mike Davis each have four goals in the 10 game stretch, while defenseman Brett Szajner has dished out seven helpers. In the 10 games the Bulls goaltending tandem has yielded less than three goals per game The Bulls are still riding the best winning percentage in the NAHL at .703 and remain the No. 1 most penalized team in the circuit. Amarillo has surrendered just 78 goals against this season ranking in a log jam for second place behind the Minnesota Wilderness.
BEES NOTES: The RGV Killer Bees are 6-2-2 in their last 10, but in only one game have given up more than three goals. Goaltender Nick Schmit has played in nine of the last 11 games. Evan Schmidbauer and Anthony Croston have been key for RGV when the game is on the line with two game winners apiece.
