BULLS HOST 4TH PLACE ICERAYS
AMARILLO, TX – A busy month of January that is packed full of home games faces off tonight (Friday) for the Amarillo Bulls at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center.
The fourth place Corpus Christi IceRays make just their first appearance in the Texas Panhandle this season visit the red hot Bulls who have their second nine-game winning streak of the season at 7 pm.
This is a great opportunity to see the Bulls face the IceRays who are fourth in the South Division and battling against three other teams for that last playoff spot. Corpus Christi is riding in off of a big win over the Texas Tornado on Thursday.
The Bulls have seven games during the month and six of them are on home ice. Those games also include visits by the rival Topeka RoadRunners and the first ever trip to Amarillo by a West Division opponent, the Fresno Monsters.
Forward Mike Erickson, who is headed to Williams College in September, has five goals in his last four games dating back to mid-December. The Amarillo Bulls are one of seven NAHL teams who have yet to yield a shorthanded goal against on home ice. But when the Bulls are penalty killing, they have become very opportunistic this season, firing eight shorthanded goals (2nd in NAHL), including three on home ice. Defenseman John Rey has collected 11 helpers in his last 10 games, while goaltenders Gregg Gruehl and Mike Taffe have a combined 1.90 Goals Against Average in that stretch.
