Riho Okamura (pronounced Ree-Ho Aw-ka-mura) has taken over for Joe Hurley who has accepted a job with the Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League.
Okamura, a native of Tokyo Japan, just completed her graduate school in Masters of Science in Exercise Science at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. She also studied at California State University, Fresno where she received a degree in Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training.
“I’m very excited to work with the Amarillo Bulls this season,” said Okamura. “I’ve heard nothing but great things regarding the organization and looking forward to a great year and keeping the boys on the ice.”
Okamura spent time interning with the Fresno Monsters in the Western States Hockey League and has also helped out Team USA Handball.
“We are excited to have Riho join us,” said Bulls Head Coach Rocky Russo. “She is professional, organized and detailed. I am confident that she will be a great fit with our staff.”
In six days the Amarillo Bulls will face off their 8th home opener in the North American Hockey League. The Bulls entertain the rival Odessa Jackalopes on Saturday at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center at 7 pm.
