AMARILLO, TX – The Coaching Staff of the defending South Division Champions Amarillo Bulls were all smiles following the completion of their Main Selection Camp in Glen Ellyn, Illinois on Sunday afternoon.
A great crop of players took part in practices and scrimmages hoping to earn a spot on the 2011-2012 Bulls’ roster. Head Coach Dennis Williams says everyone came in ready to compete.
“I thought as the week went on the competition level got better and better,” Williams said. “They battled hard for pucks, there was a great skill set and the all-star games were fantastic. We’re really excited about the upcoming year and the players that we have coming down.”
The Bulls will announce the complete roster at a later date, and those who have earned a spot will be heading to Amarillo to prepare for Training Camp that begins later this month in The Budweiser Bull Pen at the Amarillo Civic Center.
Williams said that the speed of the players at the camp was what impressed him and Assistant Coach Rocky Russo the most.
“I thought everyone was in great shape and skated well,” Williams noted. “We may not be one of the biggest teams out there but I expect us to be one of the fastest.”
Williams said that we are looking to build on the success of last year’s squad.
“Last year’s run was great, but that’s done now and we have to prepare for this group that we have coming to Amarillo for the upcoming season,” he added.
