THE SERIES: This is the first meeting of the season between the Amarillo Bulls and the Lone Star Brahmas. The teams will meet again in three weeks back at NYTEX Sports Center in North Richland Hills TX, and then again at the end of October on Halloween Weekend in the Texas Panhandle.

ALL-TIME MARKS: The Amarillo Bulls and the Lone Star Brahmas have met a total of 20 times in the past two seasons in what has become the Battle of The Cattle Series. The Bulls have the series edge 11-8-1 dating back to the 2013-14 campaign. The Bulls won the season series that year 8-3-1, while the Brahmas owned this past season’s record at 5-3. All three Amarillo wins came on home ice, including two just prior to Christmas.

STATS AND NOTES: Forward Joey Molinaro was selected as the South Division player of the week for his two goal and two assist performance against the Jackalopes last Saturday night. Special teams were a plus for the Bulls in the first game with three power play goals, while giving up just one.

BRAHMAS ARE BACK: The Lone Star Brahmas enjoyed a pretty amazing turnaround in just the second year of the franchise. After finishing out of the playoff fight and near the bottom of the standings in their first year in the North American Hockey League, Lone Star vaulted to the top and capture the South Division post season championship and came within a eyelash of advancing to the Robertson Cup National Championship. Lone Star returns just six players back from last year’s team.

NAHL SHOWCASE STARTS WEDNESDAY: The Amarillo Bulls and their South Division rivals are heading up to the State of Hockey on Wednesday for the North American Hockey League Showcase in Blaine, Minnesota. The Bulls begin play on Wednesday night at 7:30 facing the Coulee Region Chill. The Brahmas begin play at noon on day one versus the Springfield Jr. Blues.
