Bulls Beat Odessa 2-1 in Exhibition Action

The Amarillo Bulls got their 5th anniversary season off to a great start on Saturday night in Odessa at Music City Mall.  Kyle Hartman scored the game winning goal early in the third period and the team's defense and goaltending did the rest in a 2-1 triumph over the Odessa Jackalopes in exhibition action.

The goaltending duo of Joakim Justras and Jacob Weatherly were solid stopping the Jackalopes on numerous opportunities.  The Odessa goaltenders were also strong especially Robert Johansson in the first period.

There was no scoring in the opening period, but both teams spent a lot of time with special teams with a combined six power plays.

Odessa jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a power play goal on a deflection in front of the net. Just a few minutes later, the Bulls tied the game when Charlie Combs scored from Dean Rhymer on a good passing play. The third period featured lots of excitement and the go ahead goal by Hartman when his high hard shot found the back of the net. Charlie Combs earned an assist on the play.

The Jackalopes pulled their goaltender in final minute looking for the equalizer, but were unable to get sustained pressure.  This is the Amarillo Bulls lone exhibition game, and will begin their regular season schedule on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at the NAHL Showcase. The Bulls face the Wenatchee Wild at 10:30 am at the Schwann Super Rink.
