Bulls Alumni Notebook-Vol. 4 – Ed. 2

AMARILLO, TX – It was a weekend of firsts for many Amarillo Bulls Alumni in NCAA action and for several of them it led to multipoint games. Brendan McGuire, Brady Ferguson, and John Rey all got their first NCAA goals in action.

Brendan McGuire notched two goals and an assist for Army, while Brady Ferguson earned one goal and an assist for Robert Morris University in action against Sacred Heart and Niagara, respectively.

McGuire picked up his first NCAA goal this past Friday, but Army dropped a 6-4 decision to Canisius College. The next night he scored his second goal and also set up another marker as Army dumped Canisius 3-0. Joe Kozlak had a goal and an assist, while Clint Carlisle also chipped in an assist. For Canisius Cody Freeman collected two assists, while Geoff Fortman had one.

It was nearly the same story for Ferguson and Rey who picked up his first NCAA goal this past Friday as Robert Morris downed Niagara 5-2 and then he followed that up with an assist as the Colonials won again this time 4-1. John Rey scored on Saturday along with Greg Gibson, who also notched a couple of helpers.

Tyler Deresky posted his first two NCAA points of the season as Bentley stopped Sacred Heart 3-1, but lost to them the next night 6-3. Forward Matt Siekhaus also played in his second game of the season for Bentley.

Hampus Gustafsson scored for Merrimack as they nipped Connecticut 2-1.

Another member of the Amarillo Bulls Alumni will be on national television this Saturday when TJ Sarcona leads Niagara against the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Another one of the big match-ups will feature Army taking on Robert Morris University as there may be many as eight former Bulls in the line-up combined for both teams.

Hockey’s back at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center as the Bulls home stand rolls on with two games this Friday and Saturday against the Corpus Christi IceRays at 7 pm. Friday is Plain’s Dairy Night and somebody could win Milk for a year, and the first 500 fans will receive magnet schedules. The Bulls will wear specialty jerseys on both nights with a live auction to follow the game on Saturday to benefit Amarillo Youth Hockey.
