AMARILLO, TX – Four Amarillo Bulls’ Alumni are ranked in the USCHO.com NCAA Division I and Division III most recent rankings.
Brooks Behling and Providence College are ranked fifth in the Division I poll, while Matt Johnson and Lake Superior State stand 18th. Providence College has a mark of 11-2-3, and Lake Superior is 10-7-1.
Bulls Alumni John Rey, Greg Gibson (Robert Morris), and Ricky DeRosa (Penn State) are participating in the Three Rivers Classic at Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh this weekend. Robert Morris will host Penn State in the second game of the tournament.
Forward Cody Freeman and defenseman Geoff Fortman of Canisius College are also taking part in a holiday hockey tournament. The Catamount Cup is taking place in Burlington Vermont and Canisius College is one of four teams involved.
At the Division III level, St. Thomas and forward Christ Cass is ranked sixth on the USCHO.com poll. Bulls first team captain Derek Hills and his new club St. Scholastica are 11th. St. Thomas currently has a record of 8-1-2, while St. Scholastica has a mark of 8-3-2. Division III hockey won’t resume until the day after New Years with various tournaments.
The current Amarillo Bulls host the Lone Star Brahmas in the fourth annual Sonic Sunday at 6 pm at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. Tickets for this free game will be available starting at 4 pm at either the Main Box Office located off of Buchanan or the Southwest Corner Gate 8 on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Don’t forget there is more Bulls’ hockey on New Years’ Eve against the Lone Star Brahmas at 7 pm. The night is presented by Budweiser and there will be plenty of festive items for fans.
