WEST POINT, N.Y. – An Amarillo Bulls Alumni has been selected as the Atlantic Hockey Association Rookie Of The Month.
Army freshman Joe Kozlak was named Rookie Of The Month for his hard work. Kozlak was joined along by teammate senior Andy Starczewski who was chosen as Player Of The Month.
Kozlak collected six points in the first six games of the season and earned his first league citation. He has two goals and four assists on the year, including the game-winning goal in the road victory at Holy Cross.
Kozlak’s name will go on a national ballot with the winners from each conference. The national players of the month will be announced later this week.
Last Saturday two former Bulls went head-to-head as Kozlak faced defenseman Karl Beckman who attends Holy Cross. The night prior against the University of Connecticut, Beckman chipped in an assist in a 2-1 victory.
Meanwhile, forward John Gustafasson played in both games for the University of Merrimack as they beat Vermont 6-3 and then settled for a 2-2 tie.
Two more Bulls’ Alumni were also in action last weekend. Greg Gibson suited up in both games for Robert Morris against RIT and Air Force, while Brandon Lubin played for American International against the University of Alabama-Huntsville.
It’s a big weekend of hockey and giving back to the community this weekend as the Amarillo Bulls host the Topeka RoadRunners at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. Friday’s game is sponsored by McDonald’s, while Saturday is United Way Night. The Bulls will wear their specialty jerseys and a live action follows immediately after the game.
