Bulls Alumni Notebook Edition III

AMARILLO, TX – Three more Amarillo Bulls Alumni saw their first NCAA action over the weekend, while another’s first Collegiate goal was huge for his team.

Defenseman Karl Beckman suited up for Holy Cross against Clarkson last Saturday. The Crusaders dumped Clarkson 3-1.

Forward John Gustafsson played in both games for Merrimack at the Alaska Gold Rush Tournament in Anchorage.

At the NCAA Division III level, goaltender Mike Taffe posted a shutout for Utica College as they defeated Fredonia 9-0. It was Utica’s second victory over the weekend.

Meantime, Joe Kozlak’s first NCAA goal couldn’t have come at a better time. He scored late in the third period to lift Army to a 4-4 tie against Sacred Heart. Kozlak not only added an assist in that contest, but as well as the night before in the 5-2 win. Luke Jenkins also had a solid game in the tie versus Sacred Heart as he set up two goals.

Kozlak, Jenkins and their Army squad head to Holy Cross this weekend to face former teammate Karl Beckman and the Crusaders. Greg Gruehl and the University of Alabama Huntsville head east to face American International and defenseman Brandon Lubin.

Ryan Taylor and Western New England University see action for the first time on Monday when they face Stonehill in a non-conference game.

The Amarillo Bulls are back on home ice at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center tomorrow (Friday) night at 7 pm when they begin a home stand against the Texas Tornado.

It’s Pink it Out Night on Friday as the Bulls will be selling pink t-shirts with a portion of the proceeds to benefit Breast Cancer Awareness. Fans are also encouraged to wear pink to the game. Come celebrate Halloween early on Saturday night when the Bulls and Tornado close out their series also at 7 pm.
