AMARILLO, TX – Amarillo Bulls Alumni were busy in plenty of NCAA action this past weekend, and one former defenseman led the way with a big game.
Luke Jenkins scored his first NCAA goal in Army’s 4-3 loss to the University of Maine in the 3rd place game at the Ice Breaker Tournament at Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Jenkins, a native of River Falls Wisconsin, scored Army’s first goal of the game. Joe Kozlak who is also part of the Army’s team added an assist in the third period.
Army was prominently featured on the NBC Sportsnetwork on Friday night in the second game of the Ice Breaker. Army was beaten 5-1 by the University of Nebraska Omaha.
Meanwhile, another Bulls’ Alum, defenseman Brandon Lubin picked up an assist in American International’s 4-3 overtime loss at Penn State. In their final game of the weekend, American International dropped a 6-2 decision to Holy Cross. Lubin dressed but didn’t get into the scoring for American, while Karl Beckman did not play for the Crusaders.
Greg Gibson and Robert Morris University split a pair of games with Quinnipiac, dropping the first one 4-0, but winning the second 4-0. Gibson played in both games, but didn’t figure into scoring.
It’s back to the road this weekend for the Amarillo Bulls as they visit the Corpus Christi IceRays for two at American Bank Center on Saturday at 7 pm, and again Sunday at 3 pm. Fans can catch the action of both games on ESPN1440, www.amarillobulls.com and on Pay-Per-View courtesy of Fast Hockey with Denis J. Puska with pre-game coverage 15 minutes before the puck is dropped.
The Amarillo Bulls return to home ice next Friday, Oct. 26 and Saturday, Oct. 27 when they entertain the Texas Tornado at 7 pm. Friday’s game is ‘Pink It Out Night’ and fans can buy a pink bulls t-shirt with proceeds benefiting Breast Cancer Awareness. Fans are also encourage to wear pink to the game. There will be a Halloween Costume Contest on Saturday night’s game.
