Bulls Acquire Two In Trade With Wilderness

AMARILLO, TX – It hasn’t taken long for the Head Coach Rocky Russo to put his stamp on the team and today he bolstered the offense in a trade.

The Amarillo Bulls acquired forwards Alex Peterson and Mike McPherson from the Minnesota Wilderness in exchange for a Tender and a 2nd Round Draft Pick. Peterson, a native of Lansdale, PA, is no stranger to Coach Russo as he played for the Philly Little Flyers Program in the Eastern Hockey League. In 44 games, Peterson picked up 16 goals and 22 assists for 38 points and 61 penalty minutes. In the post season, the 5-9, 170 pound forward had 13 goals and 9 assists for 22 points in 12 games.

Peterson has proven that he can score at all levels notching 27 points in 33 games with the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers U 18 program in the Tier I Elite Hockey League.

McPherson played for the Boston Jr. Rangers also of the Eastern Hockey League where he picked up 35 goals and 29 assists for 64 points in 48 games. The Somerville, MA native had five points in the playoffs in five games.

McPherson tallied 90 points in 34 games for the Rangers EHL Elite program.

“We are very excited to add Alex and Mike to our club,” said Russo. “I am confident that both players can make an impact on our team and contribute offensively.

“Alex was a priority of mine since I took the job. He was instrumental in our playoff run last year and I am excited to see what he brings at the NAHL level.”

Next up for the Amarillo Bulls players is training camp that will begin later this month with on-ice workouts at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center.
