AMARILLO, TX – Two Amarillo Bulls Alumni had outstanding weekend’s for their respective schools.
Greg Gibson, a senior at Robert Morris University, scored five goals in a win and a tie over Niagara University while goaltender Collin Delia stopped over 31 shots for Merrimack College.
Gibson scored two goals in a 3-3 tie versus Niagara and then followed that up with a hattrick in an 8-2 triumph the next night. Gibson leads the team in scoring with eight points. Brady Ferguson chipped in one goal and one assist in the Saturday contest. In Friday’s match-up, TJ Sarcona tallied for Niagara.
Delia, a sophomore, had back-to-back dominating performances as Merrimack College and UMass-Lowell played to a couple of 1-1 ties. He has both of his school’s wins, and a goals against average of less than one per game. Delia has made 82 saves and a .953 save percentage.
Paul Berrafato took the loss in goal as Holy Cross dropped a 4-3 decision to Canisius. Karl Beckman had an assist for the Crusaders. Co-Captain Joe Kozlak notched a goal in Army’s 4-2 loss in Mercyhurst.
Forward Roman Ammirato scored for Union College in a 5-5 tie with Michigan. Defenseman Brandon Lubin assisted on a goal as American International sufferd a 5-3 loss to Penn State. Ricky DeRosa picked up a goal for Penn State in the contest.
Cody Gylling’s NCAA debut was outstanding as Arizona State dumped Southern New Hampshire (Division III) 7-1. Gylling scored three goals and chipped in an assist, while Ryan Stevens added one assist.
There are several big match-ups in NCAA action this weekend including Colin Delia and Merrimack College facing No 8 ranked Boston University and Robert Morris University heading to Ann Arbor to take on the Michigan Wolverines. Princeton begins its season in the Capital City Classic against Yale. The NCAA Division III schools will all hit the ice this weekend to begin play.
Hockey is back at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center this Friday and Saturday as the Amarillo Bulls host the Lone Star Brahmas at 7 pm. Saturday is Halloween Night and fans who show their high school football ticket or season pass card receive $2 off their ticket to the game. There is a special Halloween Family Four Pack of four tickets, four hotdogs and four sodas for $44 and Halloween Two Pack of two tickets two hotdogs and two sodas for $22. A Costume Contest takes place during the first intermission with an adult and a child’s winner being selected. Fans can bring their Jack-O-Lantern to the game for a special contest to be judged by the players immediately after the game.
