Alumni Notebook Edition 14 –

AMARILLO, TX – There will be one Amarillo Bulls Alumni represented at the NCAA Division III Frozen Four that takes place this weekend in Lake Placid, NY.

Goaltender Mike Taffe and Utica College will face Wisconsin-Eau Clair in one of the National Semi-Finals on Friday night. Utica defeated Bowdoin 4-2 in the Quarterfinal over the weekend. The other National Semi-Final has Oswego meeting Norwich.

At the Division I level, Atlantic Hockey has started its conference tournament as games were played over the weekend. Canisius College swept Bentley 4-0 and 2-1 in action on home ice and it was a big weekend for forward Cody Freeman. On Friday, Freeman scored once on Friday in the shutout win and then tallied both goals in a close decision the next night. Cansius will travel to the Air Force Academy this weekend in round two of the conference tournament.

Army dropped 3-1 and 5-2 decision in Erie PA to Mercyhurst. Forward Joe Kozlak scored one of the two Army goals on Saturday night. Mercyhurst has a date with Karl Beckman and Holy Cross this coming weekend.

Greg Gibson scored on both nights to help Robert Morris turn back Sacred Heart 4-1 and 6-1. The Colonials have a date next with UConn. American International fell 2-1 and 6-1 to RIT. Brandon Lubin earned an assist in the second game.

Hockey East concluded its regular season play and it was Merrimack splitting games with UMass. John Gustafsson scored on Friday as Merrimack College won 4-3 in OT. The next night the Minutemen beat Merrimack 3-0. The Hockey East Tournament starts this weekend as Merrimack faces Boston University. Brooks Behling and Providence College starts their Hockey East tournament play against New Hampshire.  

Bowling Green State University is in CCHA tourney action this weekend at the University of Notre Dame. Defenseman Derek Hills is a member of the Falcons team.

The Amarillo Bulls have their final regular season home stand this weekend when they host the Wichita Falls Wildcats on Friday and Saturday at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. Game time for both is 7 pm. Friday is Spring Break Family Fun Pack for Just $39. The first 1,000 fans will receive an Amarillo Bulls Koozie. Saturday is Fan Appreciation Night that will include the popular Jersey Of Our Backs event and the Awards Presentations.
